Medieval Marvels

A beautiful, highly original and uniquely Indian architecture was created during the 15th and the 16th century AD, thanks to a synthesis between “Hindu” and “Islamic” traditions in the building crafts. These medieval marvels attest to India’s secular, tolerant and open-minded tradition.

Hoshang Shah’s tomb and the Jahaz Mahal in Mandu, the historic Udaipur city palace, the Chaturbuj Temple, the Ramji Mandir, the Raj Mahal and the Jahangir Mahal in Orcha, Govind Mandir in Datia, the Durgah of Salim Chisti, the Jama Masjid and the amazing palace complex of Fatehpur Sikri are featured in this film.

A commentary places the context and analyses the architecture with the help of computer graphics, while fusing images of the buildings with the appropriate music and iconography (miniatures, wall painting).
