Writer, director and producer, Manu Rewal studied cinema and theatre in Paris (Sorbonne) between 1985 and 1990 and filmmaking in New York (NYU) in 1992.

Since then he has made fifteen films on architecture. Seven were selected in International film festivals and three received awards.

  • Mandu, won a certificate of Honorary Mention: Columbus Film Festival, Ohio in USA and the Prix Information Architecturale at the UNESCO Film Fest on art & education in Paris, France.
  • Lutyens’ New Delhi won the Prix Archives ethniques at the UNESCO Film Festival on art and education in Paris, France.
  • Le Corbusier in India, won the Prix Architecture at the UNESCO Film Festival on art and education in Paris and The Jury Award at MIPA 2001 in Madrid
His short fiction, Hollywood ki Pukar, was premiered in the Director’s fortnight Cannes 2002. His first feature film, Chai Pani etc, won the Special Jury Award at the International film festival in Brussels in 2007.

In 2014 he made 13 short films for the National gallery of modern art in Delhi on the works of Raj Rewal. Films which led to the feature documentary, Indian Modernity which he coproduced with the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
